| Q: If I disconnect my battery will the Power Commander lose it's map? |

A: No, all Power Commanders utilize a nonvolatile memory (it does not require constant power to maintain it). The only way a map can be “erased” is to use a computer to load a new one in place of it. |
| Q: What ranges (low, mid, high) do the face plate buttons affect my fuel curve? |
|
A: All Power Commanders are set up to split the bikes’ usable rpm (idle to redline) into thirds. The button adjustments affect a throttle position ranges in that rpm section.
As an example, for a bike that revs to 9,000 rpm the button would work in the following way
Low: idle to 3,000 rpm
Mid: 3,001 to 6,000 rpm
High: 6,001 to redline

| Q: On my Power Commander, the light is always at the lean mark during idle. Does this mean my bike is running too lean? It seems to get richer when I twist the throttle. |

A: The lights on the Power Commander only indicate the throttle position when in “normal mode”. This is why they move up when you twist the throttle (they will not go all the way to the top of the display however).
In “button adjustment” mode the lights only indicate which direction you are moving the fuel curve, richer or leaner, than the base map.

| Q: I have had a Power Commander on my bike for quite a while and it has been running great. One day it just started running rough (like it was a cylinder was misfiring) so I disconnected the Power Commander and it went away. What could be the problem with the unit? |

A: The most common problem we see with returned Power Commander is damage to the wiring harness. If the Power Commanders’ wiring harness is cut or nicked by the frame or sharp bracket it can short to ground. Once this happens a number of symptoms may be present, overly rich running, hesitation, stalling, etc. We suggest very closely inspecting the harness for any signs of damage. Small cuts may be difficult to see. If any damage is found, you can simply retape that area, unless the wiring is significantly shorted. |
